Acre – Northern Israel

Sea of Galilee

The Sea of Galilee, or as the Israelis call it, Kinneret, is the main source of water supply as well as the largest freshwater lake in Israel. According to the New Testament, this is where Jesus performed many of his miracles, including walking on water. Today, there are various water activities for tourists on the Sea of Galilee, as well as developed water sports.

Golan Heights

In the north of the country you are located the Golan Heights. It is a mountainous region with incredible scenery, nature reserves and interesting historical sights. Jerusalem

Jerusalem is considered one of the holiest cities in the world, as it is home to important spiritual sites of the three major religions: Islam, Christianity and Judaism. In the center of the city is the Old City, surrounded by a great wall. Here, visitors can learn a lot about Jerusalem’s religious history by visiting sites such as the Al Aqsa Mosque, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Western Wall. The Old City of Jerusalem is divided into four neighborhoods: the Muslim Quarter, the Armenian Quarter, the Christian Quarter and the Jewish Quarter. Tourists should definitely visit one of the museums outside the Old City, such as Yad VaShem, a Holocaust memorial center.

Ramon Crater

Mitzpe Ramon, a city in the Negev desert, is home to the Ramon Crater, or as it is called in Hebrew, Makhtesh Ramon. It is the world’s largest erosion crater, 40 kilometers (25 miles) long, its widest point is 10 kilometers (6 miles). You can drive around the crater in a jeep, richer people hire a helicopter, but the most spectacular views can only be seen in a hot air balloon.

Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth, located 430 meters (1,412 feet) below sea level. It is not only a place to swim, but also to boost your health. Endorean Lake is one of the saltiest bodies of water on Earth, making it impossible to drown. Besides, the therapeutic muds of the Dead Sea are widely known for their beneficial properties. Once in the Dead Sea area, be sure to visit Masada with its excavations and amazing views, as well as Ein Gedi, a water oasis in the desert.

Eilat

After traveling around Israel, exploring history, nature and culture, Eilat is the perfect place to relax.
